The University of Iowa’s Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position for the academic year 2024-2025, beginning August 21, 2024. 

The individual in this position will be responsible for teaching two courses each semester during the academic year (a minimum of 12 semester hours). 

Applications are sought from candidates with a potential for outstanding teaching in introductory physics. We anticipate that the Visiting Assistant Professor will teach algebra- and calculus-based introductory courses for non-majors.

  • PhD in physics, astronomy, or related discipline awarded by the position start date.
  • Ability to teach effectively and foster a welcoming and respectful learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
