Van Allen Hall is located at 30 North Dubuque Street, Iowa City, Iowa, 52242.

Van Allen Hall is an eight-floor building where our department has offices, classes, colloquia, and seminars. Most of our faculty have offices here. Approximately half of our research labs are located in Van Allen Hall.

The Van Allen Observatory (VAO), located on the roof of Van Allen Hall, is open to students and community members as it is used for undergraduate astronomical laboratories and public outreach.

Parking

Parking is available nearby in the City of Iowa City's Tower Place and Parking Ramp, located at 335 Iowa Avenue. The first hour is free, $1 per hour for each additional hour. 

Short-term metered (1-2 hours) parking is available on nearby streets and in the Market Street lot (north side of Market Street between Gilbert and Linn Streets).

Driving Directions

From the North, Interstate 80: take the Dubuque St. Exit and head southeast on N. Dubuque St for approximately 1.6 miles. Van Allen Hall will be on the left.

From the South, US Hwy 218: take the Melrose Ave. Exit; take Melrose Ave and Mormon Trek Blvd to US-6 E/2nd St in Coralville; left onW Iowa Ave. Take N. Madison to W Jefferson St to N Dubuque St.
