Phases of the Sun: A Guide to Our Star and the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

In this talk celebrating the Great North American Eclipse of 2024, the UI Department of Physics and Astronomy will use demonstrations to share about the sun, what powers it, how it moves energy to us on Earth, and its structure and features that can be observed. Then, they’ll cover solar eclipses, including what they are, what causes them, and tips for safely enjoying the April 8 eclipse.
