Poincare, Lorentz and Euclidean Representations of Relativistic Particles
Professor Wayne Polyzou; Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Iowa
I will give a blackboard talk aimed at physics graduate students. I will discuss the relation between description of particles as irreducible representations of the Poincare group, representations based on Lorentz covariant Wightman distributions and representations based Euclidean covariant Schwinger functions. These concepts are relevant for understanding the relation between relativistic quantum models, quantum field theory and Euclidean formulations of quantum field theory. While these connections are well known, they are hard to find in typical textbook treatments of quantum field theory.
