Gurkan is originally from Turkey and has a BSc degree in Physics from Bogazici University. He is currently doing his research in Electron Irradiation on Particle Accelerator Components. He is also interested in history, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, and medicine. He enjoys outdoors and is actively involved in tennis, volleyball, basketball, soccer, swimming, and billiards.
