Biography

Scott started his Ph.D. career in laboratory plasmas working with vacuum systems and plasma sources.  After graduation, he had a post doctorial fellowship at GSFC and started building double probe electric field instruments for multiple sounding rockets.  Then moving to Iowa, over 20 years ago, he continued working both laboratory plasma studies and building electron and ion electrostatic analyzers for sounding rockets.  Scott has been involved with more than 20 sounding rockets, of which four he was the Principal Investigator.   He enjoys managing the design, fabrication, integration and in situ operations of space flight missions.  He was the instrument manager for the EMFISIS instrument suite on the Van Allen Probes, and is the manager for the instrument suite on the upcoming TRACERS mission.   Scott has some experience with mechanical and electrical design as well as some programming.
