Han-Wen Shen, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Research Scholar
Biography

Dr. Han-Wen Shen received his Ph.D. from the Department of Space Science and Engineering at the National Central University in Taiwan in June 2022. His PhD dissertation demonstrates effects of geomagnetic activity and interplanetary magnetic fields on Earth's auroral particle precipitation in terms of particle energy channels. Dr. Shen also studied whistler-mode waves in Earth's inner magnetosphere, space weather effects on satellite anomalies, and applications of machine learning to space science when he was a graduate student. After receiving his PhD, he is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar with Prof. Halekas in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa. His postdoctoral research explores plasma dynamics around the Lunar environment and their interaction with the solar wind and Earth's magnetosphere through the observations from the ARTEMIS mission.
