Congratulations to Timothy Harrington-Taber for successfully defending his PhD dissertation on "Heavy Flavor Decay of Zgamma at CDF."

"Tim searched for a rare process which had not been previously observed at the Fermilab Tevatron, production of a Z boson along with a photon, where the Z decays to b quarks. The predicted rate of this process is very low, and the process is overwhelmed by a large background, so Tim developed a neural network approach to statistically discriminate the signal events. His results agree with the predicted rate, and pave the way for a followup study at the Large Hadron Collider."
