Associate Professor David Miles will receive the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Scholar Award, which recognizes faculty candidates for promotion who excel in both teaching and scholarship or creative work.

Miles was among the CLAS faculty who were promoted to associate professor to receive the two-year award. It carries a one-time $3,000 grant, which may be used for equipment, travel, supplies, and other support for research and teaching initiatives.

Miles is an experimental space physicist specializing in the development of next-generation spaceflight instrumentation. His research interests include space weather, solar-terrestrial, physics, and auroral dynamics including magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling.
