Arya Afshari

A paper by Arya Afshari, a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Iowa, was recently noted as being a Top 10 Percent Downloaded Paper in the Wiley Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics.

The paper titled, "The Importance of Electron Landau Damping for the Dissipation of Turbulent Energy in Terrestrial Magnetosheath Plasma," reports on characterizing turbulence and turbulent dissipation mechanisms.

Afshari is working with Profs. Greg Howes and Craig Kletzing at the UI. He graduated from the UI with a Ph.D. in plasma physics in 2020 and was a research assistant working on the Magnetospheric MultiScale (MMS) and Cusp Alfven and Plasma Electrodynamics Rocket (CAPER) mission.
