Congratulations to James Wetzel for successfully defending his PhD dissertation on "A Search for a Heavy Majorana Neutrino and a Radiation Damage Simulation for the HF Detector."

"James searched for Heavy Majorana Neutrinos in the LHC collision data collected with the CMS detector in 2012. These objects are the result of a model of physics beyond the Standard Model, and if discovered, could explain observations of massive neutrinos. James applied a search strategy looking for proton-proton collision events decaying into two muons and two jets, and after accounting for background events, did not find evidence for Heavy Majorana Neutrinos and so set limits on their production."
