Congratulations to Anthony Moeller for successfully defending his PhD dissertation on "Forward Physics in CMS: Simulation of PMT Hits in HF and Higgs Mass Reconstruction Methods with a Focus on Forward Jet Tagging."

"The CMS Forward Calorimetry (HF) Photomultipliers (PMT) simulation study together with the test beam studies have provided a path to eliminate "Abnormally Observed High Energy Collision Events" with an upgraded photo-detectors. This research also connects the CMS calorimeters and the Higgs mass reconstruction study since there is a very real connection between having a forward detector which gives a correct picture of what is happening at angles near the beamline and being able to use forward jet tagging in a vector boson fusion study."
