Congratulations to Thomas Brantseg for successfully defending his PhD dissertation on "Core-Collapse Supernova Remnants and Interactions with Their Surroundings."

"Tom has focused on studying the interaction of core-collapse supernova remnants with the interstellar medium. His main thesis project was a comprehensive multi-wavelength study of the young supernova remnant 0540-69.3. Using data from radio, infrared, visible light, and X-ray studies, Tom obtained the important result that the shape and emission spectrum of this object is largely determined by its environment and not from the supernova explosion itself."
