L^2-rigidity for inner amenable groups

Assistant Professor Daniel Drimbe

Abstract: Jesse Peterson introduced L^2-rigidity as a von Neumann algebraic analogue of the vanishing of first cohomology with coefficients in the left regular representation. The goal of this talk is to show that any non-amenable inner amenable group gives rise to a group von Neumann algebra that is L^2-rigid. This based on joint work with Jesse Peterson.
