Nuclear Reaction Theory and Halo Nuclei

Dr. Brady Martin

Abstract: Halo nuclei are an exotic form of nuclei that exist near the neutron and proton driplines, and they consist of a tightly bound core of nucleons with one or more nucleons that are weakly bound to the core. These nuclei play an important role in astrophysical phenomena, and their study provides deeper insight into nuclear reaction mechanisms. In this talk, I will begin with an overview of few-body scattering theory, which is the framework used for modeling few-body nuclear reactions. Then I will provide an introduction to halo nuclei and explain their importance in the field of nuclear reaction theory.
