Title: "The Persistence of Memory" in the Galactic Magnetic Field
Abstract: The Interstellar Medium of the Milky Way galaxy contains a magnetic field. Observations indicate that this field consists of a large scale component, and a superposed turbulent component, as is the case for the solar wind. Observations also indicate that the amplitude of the turbulent component is significant, and perhaps dominant compared to the large scale component. As a result, it is expected that the a magnetic field measurement at a given point in the interstellar medium would have a random direction. I discuss recent observations that are contrary to this expectation, and possible explanations.
