**“Algebraic Quantum Field Theory (Cont.)” by Mr. Marc Herrmann, Department of Physics and Astronomy, The University of Iowa**

**Abstract:** Algebraic Quantum Field Theory was originally proposed as a method of developing a rigid mathematical framework for quantum field theory. The main ingredients of the framework are a C*-algebra generated by the collection of local observables, and a positive linear functional on the algebra which corresponds to the vacuum of the theory. By requiring that the algebra and the functional satisfy a few basic axioms, one can construct a theory which exhibits the properties that would be expected of a quantum field theory. We'll discuss the required properties of the algebra and vacuum functional, as well as how the framework can be used to explore the properties of the vacuum in light-front field theories.
