Postdoctoral Research Scholar
Biography

Joe Sink is a Postdoctoral Fellow. He is interested in the electronic properties of defects, impurities and solid-state devices using theoretical models such as tight-binding, Greens's functions and density functional theory. His current research is centered on calculating the effects of vacancies and magnetic impurities in various crystals (e.g., 3C, 2H and 4H) using a tight-binding Green's function formalism. Past work has included developing transferable tight-binding models for the metal stable 2H crystal phase of group III-V and group IV materials that are observed during nanowire growth.
