You will be given two images each for a few galaxies.  One of these images is of the galaxy before a supernova explosion, the other is after.  Look for and identify the supernova explosion in the galaxy.  (Remember you are looking for what has changed between the two images.)

For this exercise, you will first need to align your images in Maxim, then animate your images to search for signs of a supernova.  (Remember to only animate the images for one galaxy at a time!)

• How did your group identify a supernova?  (How did you know it was a supernova)
   
• Where you able to identify a supernova in every image?  Why were some supernovae more difficult to identify?
   
• How does the brightness of a supernova compare to the other parts of the galaxy?
