Buffo Earns NASA's FINESST Award

Graduate Student Kenny Buffo, under the guidance of Associate Professor Casey DeRoo, has been awarded NASA's Future Investigators in NASA Earth and Space Science and Technology (FINESST) Award in Astrophysics.

Physics Alumni Awarded Grant to Investigate 'Brain on a Chip'

Yohannes Abate, Susan Dasher and Charles Dasher MD Professor of Physics in the University of Georgia Franklin College of Arts and Sciences department of physics and astronomy, has been awarded a $1.25 million grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Experimental Physics Investigators Initiative. Abate received a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Iowa in 2006 and was a student of Prof. Paul Kleiber.

Jaynes awarded the 2023 AGU James B. Macelwane Medal

Prof. Allison Jaynes was selected to receive the AGU James B. Macelwane Medal, which is given annually to three to five early career scientists in recognition of their significant contributions to Earth and space science. AGU, the world's largest Earth and space science association, annually recognizes a select number of individuals for its highest honors. Prof. Jaynes is recognized by the global Earth and space sciences community for her tremendous personal sacrifices and selfless dedication to advancing Earth and space sciences.
